I am originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where I attended Catholic Elementary, Middle, and High School. I attended the College of St. Benedict/ St. John’s University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics in May 2009. I absolutely love teaching kindergarten! The children are so full of curiosity and have an amazing love for learning that is extremely contagious. We learn so much from each other every day! In my free time I love to sing, read, cook, be outside, and visit friends. |

Barbara Frank - Music
This school year, Barbara Murphy Frank is joining the JI staff as the Elementary Music specialist along with her duties as the Director of Music at the Catholic Church in St. Peter. She taught part-time for ISD-77 at East Jr. High during 2009-2010; she taught at Fitzgerald MS during 2010-2011. Ms. Frank was an Associate Director with the Mankato Children’s Choir organization and directed the Concert Choir from 2009-2011. Prior to returning to Minnesota, she taught Middle School Choral Music for 28 years in San Antonio, TX and retired from Driscoll MS in Northeast ISD in May of 2008! During her tenure, the choirs at Driscoll earned over 30 Sweepstakes awards in UIL Contests and the choirs of Stevenson Middle School in the North Side district were also equally successful in the same contest format. Under her direction, the DMS and SMS choirs were often used as demonstration groups for Texas Music Educators Association conferences. TMEA also honored both schools with their selection to perform at the conventions as invited groups.
During her career in Texas, Ms. Frank served as an officer in music organizations at the district, region, state and division level, including MS/JH Vice-President for the Texas Choral Directors Association. Ms. Frank attended John Ireland grade school, and St. Peter public schools. She holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Minnesota State University. Barbara, her husband Richard, and brother, Gregory reside in Nicollet, where they are in the process of renovating a church into a home. She enjoys attending concerts, cooking, reading and spending time up north. |
