1st Grade – Nora Barnick

Teacher Note

By Mrs. Barnick

This is my favorite time of year in First Grade.  They all have grown so much academically and in their love of Jesus.

I have gotten to know them so well, and care so much about each of them!

                          Reminders

  • We have the last first grade prayer on Wednesday April 25th at8:15 AM.
  • Thanks for those of you who sent in crackers lately. I have bought them too. They do love their crackers after morning recess.

             Alleluia!

The word is back in our Mass vocabulary again.  We have been talking about Easter and the word Alleluia.  It means Praise the Lord. There is a saying, “We are Easter people and Alleluia is our cry.”  It is so true.  As we enter into the Easter season, we are so happy to thank and praise Jesus.

Maybe you and your child can make Alleluia part of your prayer each night.  They love to “Sing Alleluia, Sing Alleluia, Sing Alleluia . . .”

Homework

It is the time of the year when homework gets harder to do.  It is nice outside, and many new activities are starting.

We still do have homework, and this time of year much new and more challenging material is being taught.  Continue to make homework a priority, not something they do in a rush at night or in the morning.  The set books are getting more fun and challenging.  The spelling tests need to be studied for, and the phonics and math helps prepare them for second grade.

Please check their work and let them feel that school is still their priority now.  Thanks for helping your child grow and learn.
